Antalya Neuromuscular Center at Antalya Training and Research Hospital Accredited by the ADC Program

The Antalya Neuromuscular Center, part of Antalya Training and Research Hospital in Turkey, has become the latest center accredited under the Accredited Duchenne Centers (ADC) Program. This accreditation highlights the center’s commitment to adhering to the Standards of Care for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). The accreditation was given to the pediatric care team.

Prof. Dr. Naciye Füsun Toraman is an expert in physical medicine and rehabilitation. She is leading the center which is now part of a global network working to improve DMD care worldwide. The objectives of the accreditation application were to showcase the center’s innovative applications and treatments, and identify areas for improvement in their implementations.

After the accreditation visit, the center stated that they gained valuable insights and practical recommendations. They have embraced these recommendations with enthusiasm and professionalism. 

About the Antalya accreditation

The ADC Program visitation committee was particularly impressed with the Antalya Neuromuscular Center’s psychological and psychiatric care team. Dr. Karolína Podolská is World Duchenne Organization board member and ADC Program manager. She noted, “The Antalya Neuromuscular Center demonstrated a great focus on patient-centered care, particularly with their psychological support services. Their willingness to adapt and improve sets an example for other centers.”

Looking to the future, Prof. Dr. Naciye Füsun Toraman shared her expectations as an accredited center. She hopes to establish ongoing communication and collaboration with other accredited centers. Secondly, she hopes to participate in international educational and training programs, engage in medical research to advance DMD care. Lastly, prof Toraman is looking forward to hosting joint scientific meetings to foster knowledge exchange.

The Antalya Neuromuscular Center’s accreditation not only underscores its dedication to providing care in line with the Standards of Care. It also marks a step forward in the ADC Program’s mission to improve care for people living with DMD worldwide.
