The Neuromuscular Clinic at Children’s Hospital Zagreb, led by dr. Jadranka Sekelj Fureš, has been officially granted the title of Accredited Duchenne Center (ADC) for children with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

The ADC visitation committee for this accreditation was led by associate professor Jana Haberlova, joined by prof. Rosaline Quinlivan and dr. Agneta Golan. The team conducted a thorough review of the clinic’s multidisciplinary approach, care standards, and implementation of the latest Duchenne care recommendations.

Dr. Sekelj Fureš and her young enthusiastic neuromuscular team demonstrated a strong commitment to providing comprehensive, family-centered care that follows international DMD management guidelines. During the accreditation process, the team appreciated their fresh motivation and drive to further optimize patient follow-up and coordination of care across specialties.

The initiative to apply for ADC accreditation was supported by the Croatian patient community, which encouraged the team to engage in the process and provided feedback from families receiving care at the clinic. This cooperation between healthcare providers and patient representatives highlights the shared goal of continually improving standards of care for people living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Achieving ADC accreditation provides reassurance for patients and families that the care offered in Zagreb meets internationally recognized standards. As dr. Sekelj Fureš noted, the team “looks forward to further advancements in the care of DMD patients as well as further collaboration and guidance from ADC Program.”

We are proud to welcome Children’s Hospital Zagreb Neuromuscular Clinic as a new member of the network of Accredited Duchenne Centers, joining other leading institutions around the world in advancing high-quality Duchenne care.
